In Chamonix, the other railway is the Montenvers railway.
This beautiful line is a rack railway and allows to reach the site of Montenvers, 1913 m high, which offers a grand panorama on the Mer de Glace and the great peaks all around (by exemple, Aiguilles des Drus and The Grandes Jorasses).
It is operated by the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc.
During the winter holidays of 2009, beetween two afternoons on the pistes, I’ve taken some photos of the station of the Montenvers and of the rolling stock which is used on this short line.
